About Miles
Miles Hancock is a composer and arranger, writing music for live performance, studio projects, film and television.
Miles’ music and arrangements have been performed across the globe at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Abbey Road, Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scotts, Yerevan Opera Theatre, The O2 Arena, Brixton Academy, Metro Theatre Sydney, Ibiza Rocks, Barrowland Ballroom and Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
He has worked with a diverse collection of musicians including Paul Weller, Mel C, Laville, Omar, Malukah, The Zutons, Reeps One, KSI, Ella Henderson, JFB and Tom Grennan.
Miles’ music has been broadcast on television programmes across the UK and internationally, being heard on the BBC and international networks as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He is known for creating award-winning scores for feature films, animations, shorts and documentaries spanning a broad range of genres.
Miles is the co-founder of Symphonica Orchestra, a project featuring 4 x World Champion DJ Mr Switch, an orchestra and live vocalists. The orchestra performs to 100,000+ people every year, across the UK, Europe & the Middle-East. They have had sell-out solo shows at legendary venues including Village Underground, Melkweg Amsterdam, Bla Bla Dubai, Motion Bristol, Ibiza Rocks – as well as appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury, Shambala, Shindig, Victorious Festival & Camp Bestival. They have shared stages with the likes of Basement Jaxx, Krafty Kuts, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Rap, Professor Green, Freestylers, Lange, Signum, DJ Hype, Example, Fergie & Todd Terry.
Miles is the founder and bandleader of Jazz Colossus, a 20-piece big band who have performed internationally and featured the likes of Omar, Liane Carroll, Alex Wilson, Nolita Golding, Johnny Manuel, Bob Mintzer, Darien Dean and Smoove & Turrell. As a saxophonist he performs in a variety of bands and stage shows, including as the horn section leader/arranger for Tom Grennan’s live band.
Miles studied music at The University of Nottingham and Oxford Brookes University. After graduating with a Masters in music, Miles moved to London to work as an assistant to Ivor Novello nominated film composer Ilan Eshkeri and multi grammy award-winning score producer Steve Mclauglin. He now works from his own unique studio, a space combining hand-made custom audio effects with cutting-edge recording and production tools.
